Qualifying for Diabetic Supplies

If you need diabetic supplies, Medicare or private insurance may help pay for them.

Most but not all private insurance companies follow Medicare guidelines for diabetic testing supplies qualification requirements. There are too many private insurance companies to go into detail about the required qualifications for each one. If you have private insurance and you need diabetic supplies (test strips, lancets, glucose meters), an Alliance member can talk to you about the specific requirements for your private insurance policy.

Diabetic Testing Supplies are typically covered when the following criteria are met:

- The patient is eligible and has received an express written order from their doctor to test their blood sugar (glucose) level
   
- The patient meets all other applicable Medicare statutory and regulatory requirements or the requirements of the private insurer
