New Free Guide - Pills for Type 2 Diabetes
There is a new and reputable diabetes medication guide you can access online for free.
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) produced the guide and released it this month with an intended audience of type 2 diabetes patients. If you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer you can click on the following link to download your copy: Pills for Type 2 Diabetes.
The 16-page document highlights a number of popular medications. It explains their effects on cholesterol, potential side-effects, and how much one can expect to pay for one-month supply. However, it only provides limited information on the new alpha-glucosidase inhibitors Precose and Glyset, and the new Meglitinide Starlix. It provides no information about the incretin-based therapy Januvia, which is also new.
If you would like to understand more about diabetes medications we recommend the new guide. If you prefer literature written for medical professionals, you can also download The Clinician's Guide - Comparing Oral Medications for Adults With Type 2 Diabetes.
