Genetics Largely Determine Weight and Diabetes Mellitus
Just like your odds of contracting diabetes are influenced by genes, your weight is largely determined by the same code.
In an article distributed by the Chicago Tribune via InsideBayArea.com weight loss expert Barbara Hansen's expresses her resolute opinion that obesity is chiefly genetic. "It has a small behavioral component, but most of obesity is physiological," Hansen said. "It is very, very hard to fix with behavioral methods."
Hansen is not excusing people who struggle with weight from observing a proper diet. She cites calorie reduction as the main strategy for maintaining a healthy weight. We all need to eat nutritious food and the correct number of calories as a rule of general health.
We hope the knowledge that your weight is largely dependent upon your biology is emotionally liberating. Over time we will learn more about diabetes mellitus genetics.
